My first use for this was to check rotor temperatures to locate faulty brakes. It is easy to use and the adjustable setting for emissivity was important to me. Just used this to find several hot spots on my property. I was evacuated due to the CZU lightning complex fires in Santa Cruz county. Decided to go check the hillside for any hot spots, as root systems can smolder underground for weeks. Using this thermometer, I was able to identify 3 sections of my hillside that were smoldering underground. Contacted the fire department and got it all taken care of. Will be checking again tomorrow. Great product.
