Take instant non-contact body temperature readings
Point this thermometer at the side of the forehead or behind the ear and pull the trigger. The display will show you the estimated body temperature accurate to ±0.6°F in less than a second.
This thermometer extrapolates body temperature from the surface temperature of the skin. Skin temperature will always be at least several degrees lower than core body temperature. Skin temperature is affected by external factors such as outdoor temperatures or physical activity. So make sure the subject is at room temperature for the most accurate reading. Also, multiple readings should be taken to find an average. Review the user manual for proper use instruction.
The optimal measuring distance for this instrument is 2 to 3 inches.
3 Backlight colors make fever detection fast and easy
Body temperature readings are displayed in three different backlight colors (green, orange and red). If the measured body temperature is within the normal range (96.8°F-99.5°F), the backlight will remain green. If it is elevated (99.5°F-100.3°F) the backlight will change to orange, and if it’s high (>100.3°F), it will change to red. If the measured temperature is below 96.8°F the LCD will show “Lo”, if it is above 109°F the LCD will show “Hi”.
Additional useful features when taking body temperature readings include storage of up to 34 individual body temperature readings, high and low alarms, and a user-adjustable calibration offset.
Dual mode increases versatility
This instrument has two measurement modes: body temperature and surface temperature mode.
In body temperature mode it extrapolates body temperature from the surface temperature of the skin, and backlight color changes based on the reading. The temperature range in this mode is 90°F to 109°F and the accuracy ±0.6°F .
In surface temperature mode no extrapolation is made and the surface temperature is displayed directly. In this mode, the backlight is always green. Surface temperature mode has a wider range of 32°F to 212°F and an accuracy of ±1.8°F .
